Minimal concrete building in an open landscape at sunset representing long term thinking in public interest technology.

Guided by values. Grounded in research. Rooted in culture* and community.

The Alveary was founded by Dr. Jasmine McNealy in response to the growing need for organizations to think more deeply—and more culturally—about how their technology and data practices affect the people they serve.

Drawing from Jasmine’s work
as an attorney, critical public interest technologist, and social scientist, the firm sits at the intersection of ethics, policy, culture*, and design.

Our purpose is simple:

Help organizations make better decisions by grounding their work in research, collaboration, cultural awareness, and care.

We take a community centered approach that respects context, understands lived experience, and supports long-term trust. Whether we are advising on data governance, designing prototypes, or helping a team reimagine its policies, our work is shaped by evidence and guided by partnership.

Three pillars that help organizations think, plan, and build responsibly.

Research
Strategy
Design

We conduct multimodal and multimethod research to help organizations understand the systems, communities, and cultural dynamics surrounding their technologies. This includes policy analysis, data practice reviews, and ecosystem mapping that reveals risks, opportunities, and areas for change.

We support teams as they navigate decisions about data governance, privacy, culture*, and emerging technologies. Our strategy work includes policy development, organizational assessments, workshops, and guidance that turns insight into practical, people centered solutions that reflect real community realities.

We help organizations visualize, test, and refine ideas through design. This includes prototyping policy, developing tools that explain data practices, or creating frameworks that help teams communicate clearly across cultures* and communities. Design becomes a way to surface questions, build alignment, and prepare for impact.
